Rally Islas Canarias moves opening stage to Gran Canaria Stadium
The 2026 Rally Islas Canarias has confirmed a significant change to its itinerary, relocating the event's opening showcase to the Gran Canaria Stadium. Moving from the indoor arena used in 2025, the new venue provides capacity for over 30,000 spectators and aims to enhance safety and accessibility for fans.
The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria stage will feature a purpose-built side-by-side layout within the stadium grounds. Scheduled as the sole timed test on Thursday at 18:05 and the concluding action of Friday’s leg at 19:45, the setup will be complemented by a variety of fan-focused activities and entertainment.
This shift forces the cancellation of the planned stage at the Islas Canarias Circuit and the Saturday city stage, streamlining the event’s urban footprint for its 50th-anniversary celebration. Existing ticket holders will have their entry transferred to both stadium runs, with further tickets to be released shortly. The rally remains the fifth round of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship, running from April 23 to 26.
