Red Bull bring significant upgrades for home race at the Red Bull Ring
It is that time again, and the technical arms race is heating up as we arrive in Spielberg for the Austrian Grand Prix. The most eye-catching news is that Red Bull are rolling out a substantial upgrade package for their RB22 at their home event. They have overhauled the sidepod inlet and engine cover for reliability, while simultaneously packing the floor, rear suspension, rear corner, rear wing, and exhaust with changes designed to boost local load performance. It is a bold statement.
Elsewhere, the development list is long and fascinating. Cadillac are matching the intensity with a massive list of their own, bringing a reprofiled sidepod inlet, new engine cover, and updated cooling louvres to the MAC-26, alongside a host of aerodynamic changes to the floor bib, floor leading edge, diffuser, and beam wing. Meanwhile, Audi has focused on local load performance with a deep list of updates covering the front wing endplate, floor, rear suspension, and both beam and rear wings.
Further down the pit lane, McLaren are playing with an experimental rear wing on Lando Norris’ car to reduce drag, while Oscar Piastri noted they are also trialing a revised rear brake duct inlet. Mercedes is refining their suspension flow, and Ferrari is testing a new front wing endplate and floor board tweaks. While Alpine, Racing Bulls, and Haas have all brought clever, targeted revisions for flow management, Williams and Aston Martin remain the quiet ones, opting for no updates this weekend.
