Red Bull eye British Grand Prix after Austria breakthrough
It is an absolute whirlwind out there right now. After securing their best result of the season at their home race in Austria, Red Bull is now turning their attention to Silverstone. Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar are both looking at the British Grand Prix with a mix of optimism and caution, fully aware that the pendulum in this development race can swing at any moment.
The RB22 showed real teeth in Austria, allowing Verstappen to split the Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. But Silverstone is a different beast entirely. Verstappen is wary of the competition, noting that rival teams are constantly bringing upgrades that shift the order. He was clear: "We just keep focusing on our own package, try to optimise that further and see if we can have more results like that."
The challenge this weekend is unique, with long, flat-out sections that limit energy harvesting. Verstappen feels the team is still chasing improvements across the board, from low-speed handling to balance. Meanwhile, Hadjar is bracing for the chaos of a Sprint weekend, noting that with only one hour of practice, there is very little room for error. Still, he remains confident, stating, "I'm confident we have the package to fight, [it] should be a bit cooler than the Red Bull Ring and that should help our car."
