Robert Virves secures maiden Safari Rally Kenya victory in WRC2

Robert Virves marked his debut at the Safari Rally Kenya with a commanding victory in the WRC2 category. Driving a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, the Estonian navigated the difficult African terrain to secure his second career win in the class.

The race for the top spot shifted on Saturday when early leader Gus Greensmith suffered a gearbox failure followed by a puncture. This allowed Virves to establish a comfortable lead heading into the final day, which he defended to win by a margin of 30.3 seconds. Despite initial reservations about the event, Virves credited his team for a trouble-free run.

Fabrizio Zaldívar rounded out the podium in third place, despite incurring a 10-second penalty and facing pressure from fourth-placed finisher Andreas Mikkelsen. Diego Domínguez rounded out the top five, achieving a career-best result after resolving an earlier engine misfire.
