Roope Korhonen maintains WRC2 lead at Rally Sweden

Roope Korhonen extended his lead in the WRC2 classification during Saturday’s action at Rally Sweden. After starting the day with a 10.2-second cushion, the Toyota Yaris GR Rally2 driver navigated seven stages to build an overall gap of 16.6 seconds over his closest rival, Teemu Suninen. Korhonen’s performance included four additional stage victories, keeping him at the front of the pack.

Teemu Suninen, competing in his first WRC2 event of the season, focused on maintaining second place while managing a comfortable 31.2-second margin over Lauri Joona. Suninen expressed satisfaction with his return to competition, despite acknowledging the challenge of regaining momentum after a period away from the sport.

Behind the leaders, the battle for the final podium spot intensified as Lauri Joona worked to defend his position against teenager Tuukka Kauppinen, who remains in contention for a maiden top-three finish. Further down the order, Taylor Gill impressed on his WRC2 debut by securing fifth, finishing ahead of Isak Reiersen as the field heads into the final three stages on Sunday.
