Rossel seizes WRC2 lead at Rallye Monte-Carlo

Yohan Rossel established a commanding lead in the WRC2 category at Rallye Monte-Carlo on Friday, finishing the day with a 39.6-second advantage. Rossel capitalized on a challenging morning for overnight leader Eric Camilli, who lost significant time due to fluctuating surface conditions and a steering-related incident that resulted in a stall.

Camilli, who held a 15.3-second cushion following Thursday’s opening stages, struggled with a cautious pace in the fourth stage before slipping to fourth overall after sliding into a bank. He subsequently mounted a recovery in the afternoon sessions, managing to overtake Nikolay Gryazin for second place on the penultimate stage of the day.

Gryazin, making his competitive debut in the new Lancia Ypsilon HF Rally2, remains in contention within the top three. Behind the leading runners, Roberto Daprà holds fourth, while newcomer Arthur Pelamourgues sits sixth after securing an impressive stage win during the Friday morning loop.
