Russell fastest in final Austrian Grand Prix practice
George Russell set the fastest time in the final practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix, emerging fastest in the closing stages. The Mercedes driver narrowly beat his teammate Kimi Antonelli to the top spot.
Earlier in the session, Lando Norris had briefly led for McLaren before Antonelli took command. Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc also featured near the top of the timing screens at various points. Several drivers, including Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz, encountered issues during the session, with Sainz spinning off track late on.
As the hour concluded, Russell's final effort proved superior to Antonelli's best lap. Lewis Hamilton finished third for Mercedes, ahead of the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Verstappen placed sixth, with Leclerc eighth.
