Sainz calls for Williams to reset after difficult Barcelona weekend

Williams endured a challenging weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with neither of its cars securing points in the recent Grand Prix. Despite a recent run of scoring finishes in Miami, Canada, and Monaco, the team acknowledged that the Spanish venue would present a significant hurdle.

The FW48 chassis continues to struggle with downforce deficits compared to its rivals. This issue is exacerbated by excess weight, which the team is actively trying to reduce. The high-speed nature of the Barcelona circuit amplified these weaknesses, proving more difficult than anticipated for both Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.

Sainz finished P12, two laps down and significantly off the pace, describing the performance gap in medium and high-speed corners as a "realisation that we are very far from where we should be." He suggested the team needs to bring more substantial upgrades, highlighting a performance gap of 1.6 to 1.9 seconds from the leaders.

Team-mate Albon faced an even tougher race, starting P18 and suffering further setbacks with a loose camera mount, which effectively turned his race into a prolonged test session. He was not classified after finishing 11 laps behind the leader.
