Scott Dixon finds the speed at Road America
Scott Dixon might have finally found the pace he needs to salvage his season. In the final warmup before the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America, the Chip Ganassi Racing veteran set the benchmark with a time of 1 minute, 44.8508 seconds in his No. 9 PNC Bank Honda. After a challenging year that has left the six-time champion sitting 12th in the standings, this is exactly the kind of boost the machine—and the driver—needed before the 55-lap race.
The Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian pair showed real teeth in the session, with Marcus Armstrong clocking 1:44.9990 and Felix Rosenqvist right behind him at 1:45.0214 in their respective No. 66 and No. 60 Hondas. Nolan Siegel continued his impressive weekend, putting his No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet fourth, while rookie Caio Collet stayed remarkably sharp to round out the top five in the No. 4 Combitrans Amazonia Chevrolet.
It was a strange sight to see points leader and NTT P1 Award winner Alex Palou down in 20th, though his dominance at this venue since 2020 is already well-documented. With the starting grid set, all eyes are now on how that leaderboard shifts when the green flag drops.
