Shane van Gisbergen eyes redemption at Qualcomm Circuit
It is finally time to see who can tame the 3.4-mile beast that is the Qualcomm Circuit. After a streak of difficult results, Shane van Gisbergen has put his Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet on the pole for the Anduril 250, looking like the man to beat after securing his sixth career Cup Series qualifying top spot.
Keep your eyes on the rest of the field, though. His teammate Connor Zilisch, driving the No. 88 Chevrolet, starts eighth and is hunting for his first career top 10, while Spire Motorsports’ Michael McDowell—who qualified ninth—remains a master of road courses with five top-five finishes in his last seven attempts. The street-course carnage could be wild, but I am particularly fascinated to see Kevin Magnussen make his Cup Series debut in the Trackhouse Racing No. 91 Chevrolet; he starts 21st, but his F1 background makes him a true wild card in this 75-lap showdown.
