Solberg leads Toyota trio in shakedown for Rally Islas Canarias
Oliver Solberg set the pace during the shakedown for the Rally Islas Canarias, piloting his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 to a benchmark time of 4:06.9 over the 6.26km Santa Brígida stage. The session highlighted the technical, high-grip tarmac nature of the event, with the top three drivers separated by less than a second.
Takamoto Katsuta, currently leading the championship, finished 0.5 seconds behind Solberg, while Sébastien Ogier returned to competition in third place, trailing the lead time by 0.7 seconds. Sami Pajari followed in fourth, with Elfyn Evans rounding out the top five as he looks to recover from recent technical setbacks.
Adrien Fourmaux led the Hyundai Motorsport effort in sixth, just ahead of team-mate Thierry Neuville, while Dani Sordo made his 2026 Rally1 debut in eighth position. M-Sport Ford pairing Josh McErlean and Jon Armstrong completed the Rally1 field, focusing on adjustments ahead of the rally’s official start at the Gran Canaria Stadium later today.
