Solberg makes history with maiden Rallye Monte-Carlo victory

Oliver Solberg secured his place in the record books this weekend by becoming the youngest-ever winner of Rallye Monte-Carlo. The 24-year-old outperformed 10-time event winner Sébastien Ogier, steering his Toyota to a dominant result as the manufacturer locked out the top three positions.

The rally presented extreme challenges, with crews navigating volatile conditions ranging from dense fog and heavy rain to unpredictable black ice. Solberg and co-driver Elliott Edmondson opted for an aggressive strategy from the outset, establishing a critical lead during Thursday’s night stages by maintaining pace on the iciest sections.

Despite the victory, the weekend was not without incident, including a Saturday excursion into a field and multiple overshoots on Sunday. Reflecting on the result, Solberg noted that while his focus was pushed to the limit, the win served as a milestone achievement for his new partnership with Toyota.
