Solberg narrows gap to Ogier in unpredictable Canarias conditions

Oliver Solberg significantly reduced Sebastien Ogier's overnight lead during Saturday's morning stages at Rally Canarias. As localized rain showers created inconsistent grip levels across the asphalt, Solberg successfully pressured the leader, bringing the margin down significantly by the midpoint of the day. Elfyn Evans also showed strong form by winning the first two stages of the loop, keeping himself firmly in contention for the overall podium.

The final test of the morning, the 28.90km Moya - Gáldar stage, proved particularly difficult as the weather intensified. Despite a minor brush with a barrier, Solberg managed to gain a slim advantage over Ogier. Meanwhile, Evans fell back slightly as the road conditions deteriorated, though he remains within striking distance of the frontrunners.

Toyota Gazoo Racing continues to hold a firm grip on the top five, with Sami Pajari maintaining fourth position despite pressure from teammate Takamoto Katsuta, who lost time due to a navigation error at a roundabout. Further down the order, Adrien Fourmaux has moved ahead of Hyundai’s Dani Sordo for sixth place, while Thierry Neuville continues to struggle with his pace and confidence. In WRC2, Yohan Rossel continues to lead the category, managing the technical challenges of the route to maintain a cushion over his closest rivals.
