Suninen leads WRC2 field heading into Portugal finale

Teemu Suninen enters the final day of Rally de Portugal as the WRC2 leader after a turbulent Saturday. Driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, the Finn surged to the front of the field during the morning loop, navigating rain-affected stages to establish an early advantage. Despite relinquishing the lead briefly to Jan Solans following a time loss in the afternoon, Suninen responded in the Lousada super special to carry a slim margin into Sunday.

Jan Solans remains firmly in contention in his Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 after a resilient performance, including a temporary move into the lead on the penultimate stage. Behind the lead battle, Roope Korhonen sits in third position, holding a buffer over fourth-placed Andreas Mikkelsen. The day saw significant attrition, notably involving championship leader Yohan Rossel, who retired after a crash on the 18th stage.

Further down the order, Fabrizio Zaldivar advanced to fifth, while Mille Johansson and Eric Camilli are separated by just over seven seconds as they fight for position. The remaining top ten is completed by Matteo Chatillon, Bernhard ten Brinke, and Gus Greensmith as the field prepares for the final push.
