Takamoto Katsuta has ascended to the lead of the World Rally Championship following a dramatic finish at the Rally Croatia. The Toyota Gazoo Racing driver secured his second consecutive victory after a late incident forced Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville to retire during the final Wolf Power Stage. While the result marks a historic moment as the first time a Japanese driver has led the standings, Katsuta has remained composed, emphasizing a focus on personal improvement rather than the title race.

Unlike his recent victory in Kenya, which was earned through controlled pace, the win in Croatia was secured through circumstance.
