Taylor Gill takes unconventional road to Croatia Rally

Following a successful WRC2 debut in Sweden, Australian duo Taylor Gill and co-driver Dan Brkic have turned to creative logistics to secure their entry for the upcoming Croatia Rally. To maximize their limited budget, the pair embarked on a five-day, 3000km road trip, towing their rented Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 from their base in Finland to Italy. The journey saw them traverse seven countries before arriving at the Delta Rally team headquarters to prepare the car for asphalt competition.

Gill noted that while the self-led transport was a necessity, it also provided a chance to stop at M-Sport Poland, where the duo competed previously. Now shifting focus to the rally itself, Gill is preparing for his first asphalt outing in the GR Yaris. The program includes a shakedown and a dedicated test session, which the 22-year-old believes is vital to remaining competitive in a high-caliber field.

For this event, Gill will incorporate a route note crew for the first time, a process he has navigated with advice from fellow Oceania driver Hayden Paddon. As the rally moves to a new base in Rijeka, the Australian pair remains focused on their performance, though their long-term goal rests on returning to Australia after the event to source additional funding for a potential entry in Secto Rally Finland later this season.
