Technical violation hits Chip Ganassi Racing after the Indianapolis 500
It is a tough day for Chip Ganassi Racing. Following the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500, INDYCAR officials confirmed that the No. 10 entry failed a post-race technical inspection, specifically regarding the front wing height measurement.
The car was found to be in violation of rules 14.7.6.8 and 14.7.6.7.1, which dictate that the front wing must not measure less than 8.300 inches while on the inspection fixture. Despite officials determining that this was purely an assembly error rather than an intentional performance modification, the consequences are immediate.
The team has been slapped with a $10,000 fine, and the No. 10 entry has lost five championship driver and entrant points. It is a harsh reminder that even at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the smallest assembly detail can cost you dearly.
