The hunt for Alex Palou resumes at Road America
The NTT INDYCAR SERIES is back, and frankly, the rest of the grid has a massive mountain to climb. We are heading to Road America, the stunning "National Park of Speed," to kick off the second half of the season with the 55-lap XPEL Grand Prix. Everyone is currently chasing the four-time champion Alex Palou, who arrives with a 49-point lead and a frankly terrifying record at this circuit, having won three of the last five races here.
Palou, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, has been an absolute machine, winning 12 of the last 26 races since last season began. It is difficult to bet against him when he has also historically won nine races at the venues remaining on the calendar. Chasing him down is Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood, currently second in points, and Team Penske’s David Malukas, who sits third and 68 points back.
While five drivers have already taken a win this year, names like Will Power of Andretti Global and Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing are still hunting for their first victory of the season. They both know this track well, each having two wins here. But with the stats showing the winner’s average starting position is 3.8, qualifying on Saturday will be the true test to see if anyone can actually stop the runaway leader.
