The moments you might have missed at the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix
The Austrian Grand Prix gave us more than just a fierce strategic battle. George Russell took his second win of the season, closing the gap to championship leader Kimi Antonelli to 40 points. It was an incredibly tight finish at the Red Bull Ring, with Max Verstappen and Antonelli both crossing the line within two seconds of the winner.
Before the race, the circuit hosted a beautiful parade of historic machines including the Ferrari 312T, the Lotus 77, and the wild six-wheeled Tyrrell P34, driven by legends like David Coulthard, Rubens Barrichello, Mark Webber, and Jean Alesi. It was a fitting tribute to Niki Lauda, made even more special by having his son, Mathias, behind the wheel of the 1975 title-winner.
Off-track antics were in full swing as well. While Lewis Hamilton looked on in disbelief at a fan bungee-jumping during a stage appearance, Kimi Antonelli was busy trading pranks with his Mercedes team. After being forced to attend the annual drivers' dinner in his racing shoes because the mechanics tied his laces together, the 19-year-old took his revenge with a water gun. Meanwhile, Haas driver Esteban Ocon, 29, shared a grin-inducing meeting with actor Tom Holland, proving that even in the heat of a season, there is always time for a bit of Marvel magic.
