Theophile Nael leads a Campos charge in Barcelona qualifying

Theophile Nael is on a tear. With a blistering 1:28.263, the Frenchman secured his third consecutive pole position of the season at Barcelona, but he had to fight for every millisecond. His Campos Racing teammate, Ugo Ugochukwu, was right there with him, falling short by a mere 0.039s in an incredibly tight battle.

The Campos dominance didn't stop at the front row, with Ernesto Rivera placing his machine in seventh. Behind the leading duo, Hiyu Yamakoshi claimed third for Van Amersfoort Racing, while Rodin Motorsport’s Brando Badoer followed up his Monte Carlo win with a solid fourth. ART Grand Prix rookie Taito Kato rounded out the top five.

Down the order, Gerrard Xie of DAMS Lucas Oil secured the reverse grid pole for Saturday's 21-lap Sprint Race. He will be joined on the front row by PREMA Racing’s James Wharton, who qualified 11th. The lights go out at 10:05 local time.
