Toyota looks to conquer Ford's backyard at Michigan
It is absolutely wild to watch Toyota steamroll the 2026 Cup Series. With 23XI Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing racking up eight wins in just 14 races, they are showing no signs of slowing down, even as we head to Michigan International Speedway. This is Ford's home turf, and they know this track better than anyone, having claimed nine of the last 11 races here—though we must remember five of those were the work of the now-retired Kevin Harvick retired Kevin Harvick.
Practice brought some drama, with frontrunners Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell dealing with flat tires, yet they came out of it unscathed. It seems the Toyota machines are simply built for these high-speed ovals. While the likes of Tyler Reddick have struggled here historically with a 20.6 average finish, he proved in 2024 that he can find victory lane at this circuit. It is a massive weekend for everyone, especially with Chevrolet and Ford looking to defend their pride right on their doorstep.
