Here is the machine Toyota hopes will drag them back to the absolute summit of endurance racing. In a bid to reclaim the coveted crown in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the multiple title-winner has presented the car with which it will head into battle in the headlining Hypercar category this year, alongside a brand-new name under which it will compete.
Since making its debut at the international pinnacle of the discipline partway through the inaugural campaign back in 2012, Toyota has established itself as the most successful brand in the series’ history. The record speaks for itself, featuring no fewer than six Drivers’ championships and seven Manufacturers’ trophies. Last season, however, proved to be a tough one by the marque’s habitually high standards. It yielded just a single victory in the Bahrain finale for the ageing GR010 HYBRID.
That reality check has prompted the introduction of the updated TR010 HYBRID Hypercar for 2026. The Japanese automotive giant has leveraged 'Evo' jokers to implement significant changes to the prototype’s front end, sidepods, engine cover, and rear wing. Taking the transformation even further, the previous predominantly black design has made way for a striking new red look. It strongly recalls the GT-One inspired 'retro' livery sported by the #7 entry at last June’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
There is a rebrand in the air, too. Both cars will run under the rebranded TOYOTA RACING banner, replacing the outgoing TOYOTA GAZOO Racing moniker. Meanwhile, the garage keeps its consistency with an unchanged driver line-up. Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries will share the #7 TR010 HYBRID, while Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryō Hirakawa remain on-board the sister #8 car.
