Tyler Reddick entered the NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway holding an eight-point lead in the standings, but a mechanical failure effectively ended his contention early. After qualifying 11th, the 23XI Racing driver experienced persistent power steering issues during the opening stage, eventually forcing the team to make extended repairs on pit road that cost them multiple laps.

Despite the crew's efforts to address the steering malfunction, Reddick finished the race in 36th place. While he managed to secure the fastest lap of the race, the result dropped him from the top of the points standings for the first time this season. Denny Hamlin, who also faced challenges on the track during the event, overtook Reddick in the championship race by a single point.

Crew chief Billy Scott noted the team's disappointment but shifted focus toward future performance. Looking ahead, the team plans to prioritize race wins as they prepare for the upcoming postseason, viewing the difficult outing at Sonoma as a test of their resolve.
