Tyler Reddick's points lead takes a hit at Michigan

It was an absolute disaster for Tyler Reddick at Michigan International Speedway. The points leader, who had been untouchable all season, found himself at the mercy of a brutal Lap 83 restart pileup that ended his day in the garage. The incident, which involved nine cars in total, was sparked when Carson Hocevar made contact with John Hunter Nemechek, triggering a chain reaction that ultimately collected the 23XI Racing machine.

The wreckage was total. Reddick, who entered the day with a 97-point lead, walked away with his first DNF of the season and a 35th-place finish. He wasn't the only one left frustrated; Austin Dillon, who finished 36th after his own car sustained heavy damage, didn't hold back his feelings toward Hocevar, stating, "I hope at some point, [Hocevar] figures it out."

For Reddick, this is a painful stumble. Despite winning Stage 1, the speed he showed all weekend couldn't save him from the chaos of the pack. The result allowed Denny Hamlin, who took the win for the second week in a row, to slash the gap in the standings down to 51 markers.
