Vasseur praises Hamilton's outstanding performance in Barcelona win

Lewis Hamilton secured his first Grand Prix win with Ferrari at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a performance that drew high praise from Team Principal Fred Vasseur. Vasseur highlighted Hamilton's significant behind-the-scenes efforts and strategic execution that were crucial to achieving the victory.

Starting from second on the grid, Hamilton worked closely with the Ferrari crew to implement a well-timed three-stop strategy. He was instrumental in closing the gap to his rivals after his second pit stop, ultimately taking the lead. The deployment of a Virtual Safety Car to recover Fernando Alonso's stranded Aston Martin provided Ferrari with an opportunity to pit Hamilton for fresh tyres, a move that allowed him to maintain his lead.

Vasseur commented on Hamilton's performance, stating, "He was very outstanding today." He added that Hamilton's commitment and energy have been consistent, pushing the team forward and proving beneficial. "He is fully committed, fully convinced, and he is pushing everybody. We need to have this kind of energy and it’s paying off today," Vasseur said.

The win marks Ferrari's first since the Mexico City Grand Prix in 2024 and ends a six-race winning streak for Mercedes. Vasseur cautioned against overexcitement, emphasizing the need to maintain the team's current approach for upcoming races. "It’s not like last week we were nowhere and today we are World Champions. That would be a huge mistake," he noted, stressing consistency for the Austrian Grand Prix.
