Verstappen secures season-best finish at Austrian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen drove a competitive race at the Red Bull Ring, finishing as the runner-up to George Russell. Despite starting fifth after a qualifying incident, the Red Bull driver executed several early overtakes to climb the order. A strategic decision to extend his final stint left him chasing the leader in the closing stages, ultimately crossing the finish line just 1.6 seconds behind the Mercedes.

Verstappen described the weekend as a significant step forward, noting that the RB22 remained strong for much of the 71-lap event despite some late-race handling challenges. The performance was bolstered by a suite of technical upgrades brought to Spielberg, which appeared to improve the team's pace relative to their championship rivals.

Teammate Isack Hadjar also delivered a strong result for the squad, climbing from eighth on the grid to finish sixth. Hadjar credited the team's latest vehicle developments for the improved competitiveness, noting that the car felt more responsive throughout the race distance.
