Williams details planned upgrades for later in 2026 season

Williams Team Principal James Vowles has outlined the team's strategy for introducing significant upgrades to their FW48 challenger during the remainder of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Despite a challenging start to the year, marked by missing pre-season shakedown and initial struggles with car weight, the team is anticipating substantial performance improvements.

Vowles indicated that while Silverstone will see a "nice little step" and incremental updates will arrive at most races, a more substantial package is slated for introduction around the Baku Grand Prix. He expressed admiration for the development rates of rival teams such as Racing Bulls and Audi, emphasizing Williams' ambition to surpass them with their planned advancements.

The team has been focusing on chassis development, addressing issues related to car balance and consistency between left and right corners. Vowles noted that these minor imbalances become more apparent on high-temperature tracks and confirmed that recent factory work has yielded positive results and modifications to the car's specification.
