World Rally Championship records significant audience gains for 2025 season
The 2025 FIA World Rally Championship season saw a massive expansion in its global reach, with cumulative television audiences surpassing 1.3 billion. Primary broadcast coverage increased by 17 percent, while total viewing hours grew by 16 percent. Much of this regional success was driven by rallies in South and Central America, specifically the inclusion of Rally Chile Bio Bío and the new Rally del Paraguay, which saw viewing figures in those regions jump by 95 percent.
Digital platforms also experienced a breakout year, with social media impressions reaching 2.2 billion and video views climbing 72 percent to 1.3 billion. Platform-native content proved highly effective, as seen in a 92 percent increase in TikTok engagement and a 61 percent rise in Facebook impressions. The series' owned social channels saw a 15 percent growth in total followers, now exceeding 9.7 million.
Beyond traditional and social media broadcasts, the series' official website and long-form video projects recorded strong metrics. WRC.com attracted 9.5 million active users throughout the season, while the documentary series "WRC: More than Machine" generated millions of views on YouTube. Philipp Maenner, Senior Director of Media Rights and OTT Platforms, noted that these figures demonstrate the championship's enhanced accessibility and the effectiveness of its evolving content strategy.
