World Rally Championship to return to UK with Rally Scotland in 2027

The World Rally Championship is set to return to the United Kingdom in 2027, with Scotland confirmed as the host for a new gravel-based event. The three-year agreement, formed between Motorsport UK, WRC Promoter, and local government stakeholders, will see Aberdeen serve as the rally headquarters, utilizing the P&J Live complex for service facilities. The competitive stages are planned to take place throughout the Aberdeenshire and Moray regions.

This development marks an eight-year hiatus from the UK rally scene following the final running of Wales Rally GB in 2019. Organizers emphasize that the Scottish landscape offers an ideal technical challenge for manufacturers and crews, while providing necessary infrastructure for fans and media.

A candidate event is scheduled to take place later this year to facilitate FIA evaluation and preparation. Pending approval from the FIA World Motor Sport Council, the event aims to integrate into the WRC calendar for 2027, coinciding with the championship's introduction of new technical regulations.
