WRC community mourns the loss of William Louw

The rallying world is grieving the death of William Louw, a dedicated South African official who spent decades improving safety and administrative standards across the sport. Following a long tenure managing logistics and directing races within the South African Rally Championship, Louw took on an international role in 2020 as the FIA Safety Delegate for Africa.

Louw is widely credited for his critical contribution to the revival of the Safari Rally Kenya. As the event prepared for its return to the World Rally Championship calendar, he worked extensively with organizers, marshals, and local officials to establish the rigorous safety protocols necessary for elite-level competition. His efforts in training and infrastructure development were fundamental in modernizing the event's safety standards.
