WRC documentary series More than Machine receives Royal Television Society Award
The Royal Television Society has named the World Rally Championship's series, More than Machine, as the Best Factual Entertainment Series. The accolade was presented in London on 17 April, highlighting the project's success in broadening the championship's reach through immersive storytelling.
Produced by Superlative Films in collaboration with SafetyCulture and WRC Promoter, the series provides a behind-the-scenes look at the Rally1 competition. Following an initial season centered on a single team, the second season expanded its scope to document the entire WRC field, a shift that WRC Senior Director of Media Rights and OTT, Philipp Maenner, noted was met with strong viewer retention and positive feedback.
Judges commended the production for its high quality, effective use of archive footage, and ability to make the sport accessible to wider audiences. This latest honor adds to previous recognition, including a Best Original Content award at the SportsPro Media Awards for the series' debut season.
