Yohan Rossel closes in on historic WRC2 victory in Croatia

Yohan Rossel has established a commanding lead in the WRC2 category at the Croatia Rally, putting him in a strong position to secure a maiden victory for the Lancia Ypsilon HF Rally2. Rossel navigated Saturday's volatile asphalt stages with precision, opting to reduce his pace when weather conditions deteriorated while his primary competitors faced significant setbacks.

The day proved costly for podium contenders Nikolay Gryazin and Alejandro Cachón. Gryazin suffered a turbocharger failure, while Cachón struggled with a punctured tire on his Toyota, allowing Léo Rossel to move into second place overall. Roope Korhonen currently holds third, followed by Gryazin and Cachón as the field prepares for the final day.

Elsewhere, the demanding route claimed several victims, including Eric Camilli and Arthur Pelamourgues, both of whom retired following accidents. Meanwhile, Taylor Gill demonstrated strong progress by climbing into the top ten, and Johannes Keferböck continues to command a significant lead in the WRC Masters Cup.
