Yohan Rossel establishes WRC2 lead in Rally Islas Canarias

Yohan Rossel has seized control of the WRC2 category at Rally Islas Canarias, ending the first full day of competitive stages with a 22-second cushion over the rest of the field. Competing in a Lancia, Rossel utilized the challenging mountain roads to his advantage, masterfully balancing tyre management and car setup to pull away from his closest rivals.

Alejandro Cachón currently sits in second place, holding off championship leader Léo Rossel, who trails his brother by 4.9 seconds. While Yohan Rossel consistently widened his margin throughout the day, particularly during the Mogán - La Aldea test, Léo Rossel noted that his sibling and the Lancia package have been remarkably quick on the island's asphalt.

Eric Camilli holds fourth place overall, maintaining a steady pace 37.3 seconds off the lead. Roberto Daprà and Jan Solans follow in fifth and sixth respectively, while Nikolay Gryazin slipped down the order following a wheel issue and handling difficulties. Giovanni Trentin concluded the day by posting the quickest WRC2 time on the final super special stage.
