Here is some brilliant news for motorcycle racing: the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello has officially signed a new five-year agreement to remain the home of the Italian Grand Prix through the end of the 2031 season. This stunning Tuscan venue continues as a foundational stone of the championship, celebrated widely for its incredible speed and unmatched atmosphere.
That passionate environment was proven in 2026, when the Italian Grand Prix drew a record 178,723 spectators over the course of the race weekend. It is a fitting continuation for a track that celebrated 50 years since hosting its first motorcycle Grand Prix last year.
Carlos Ezpeleta, Deputy CEO of MotoGP, shared his thoughts on the extension: "Mugello is much more than a Grand Prix venue. It is one of the spiritual homes of MotoGP, where the passion of the Italian fans and the history of our sport create an atmosphere unlike any other. Every year it reminds us why it remains one of the most special events on the calendar, and we are proud to secure its place in MotoGP's future.”
Paolo Poli, CEO and Director of Mugello Circuit, pointed to the collaborative effort behind the scenes: “This contract renewal to host the Italian Grand Prix of MotoGP through 2031 demonstrates our commitment, together with Ferrari, to the future of Mugello Circuit. It provides a solid foundation for the continued development of the racetrack, ensuring that it remains a benchmark on the international stage and one of the key events on the MotoGP calendar for fans around the world.” Poli also noted that after celebrating 50 years of history since the Tuscan circuit first hosted a motorcycle Grand Prix in 1976, this renewal opens an exciting new chapter.
Eugenio Giani, President of the Region of Tuscany, emphasized the broader regional impact of the agreement: “Consolidating our relationship with MotoGP through 2031 is a confirmation of the strength and potential of our region. Mugello Circuit is an excellence for Tuscany and for Italy as a whole. This renewal further reinforces the important role that the circuit and major sporting events can play in promoting growth, international visibility and tourism development.”
