Here is the thing about the Grand Prix Commission meetings: they always bring adjustments that quietly shape how the paddock operates. The latest gathering, bringing together representatives from the FIM, MotoGP, the teams’ association, and the manufacturers’ association, has officially locked in a few smaller changes looking ahead to 2027.
The biggest headline here is a total ban on practice starts from the pitlane exit across all tracks starting in 2027. While this rule was already in force across most of the calendar, it is now officially standardized across the board everywhere.
Alongside that regulation shift, the commission also pushed through updates specifically for Moto2 concessions. These changes are arriving right alongside a brand-new engine spec for next season, driven by ongoing development from official Moto2 engine supplier Triumph.
Because of this mechanical evolution, every manufacturer is going to need a completely new chassis. To keep things fair and balanced, the concession ranks are going to be completely reset right at the start of the season before getting re-assessed midway through the year.
