Now, let me tell you about a mess in the Baku paddock that just ruined a driver's Sunday setup. Following the conclusion of Thursday’s FIA Formula 2 Qualifying in Baku, Colton Herta has been penalised.
Herta has been handed a grid penalty for Feature Race 2 for impeding Cian Shields during Qualifying 2. It is an absolute headache for the team.
After hearing from both drivers, along with their respective team representatives, the Stewards determined that Herta had unnecessarily impeded Shields between at Turn 14, breaching Article 31.6 of the FIA Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.
As a result, they elected to hand Herta a three-place grid penalty for Feature Race 2. That is a costly miscalculation on the track that is going to make Sunday's race much harder work.
