Here is the thing, track limits and pit entry lines are absolute, and Nikola Tsolov just found out the hard way in Baku. Following the conclusion of the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race, the driver of Car 6 was handed a penalty that will shake up his starting spot for Saturday's race.
During the event, Tsolov crossed over the white line separating the pitlane from the track. This move was judged to be in violation of ISC Apex L Ch IV 4(d). The stewards examined video evidence of the incident and found that he crossed the pit entry line with his right wheels by about one meter.
Because of this infraction, the stewards chose the lesser of the penalties outlined in the guidelines, which is five seconds. Unfortunately, since the driver of Car 6 had already retired from the race, that time penalty went completely unserved.
To make up for the unserved time, the penalty has now been converted into a grid drop of three places for Feature Race 2. Tsolov is now officially set to start Saturday's race from P11.
