Here is a piece of news that quietly rewrites the record books. Ferrari have announced that Alba Larsen will return for a 2027 F1 ACADEMY campaign, making the Dane the very first driver to ever contest a third season in the all-female series. This continuation comes as she remains part of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.
This move has been made possible thanks to a rule change announced last year. That regulation grants an exclusive third season to drivers whose performances demonstrate strong potential for continued growth. It is a massive vote of confidence in a machine and a driver alike.
After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become,
Looking back at her journey, Larsen was signed by the SFDA midway through her debut F1 ACADEMY season in 2025. Back then, she put together 10 top-10 finishes in the Tommy Hilfiger car. She then made the switch to the Ferrari car for this year, where she recently broke through to claim her first podium in the series via back-to-back P2 finishes in Zandvoort.
The 17-year-old currently holds fourth place in the drivers’ standings with two rounds remaining in Austin and Las Vegas, alongside a maiden win in British F4 earlier this season.
Reflecting on the announcement, Larsen shared her thoughts on the milestone: "After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become," she said. "Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me. I’ve grown a lot here too. I’m really proud to be part of it and can’t wait to be back on the grid with Scuderia Ferrari HP in 2027.”
