Cadillac Whelen dominates the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen
It was total clinical execution from the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R team at Watkins Glen. They were untouchable from the moment the cars hit the track, topping practice, storming to pole, and finishing their weekend in Victory Lane. Jack Aitken was holding a lead of over seven seconds when a final-lap yellow flag effectively locked in their victory, marking the team’s second win of the year and an incredible eighth consecutive GTP podium.
Nick Yelloly brought the No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06 home in second, while Laurin Heinrich pulled off a brilliant, gritty recovery drive to secure third for the No. 5 JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963. Heinrich’s late move to bypass the No. 24 BMW M Team WRT BMW M Hybrid V8 of Sheldon van der Linde inside the final 13 minutes was the highlight of the day, proving that even after falling a lap down, the podium was there for the taking.
In the LMP2 class, the AO Racing team finally broke their drought. After a three-month hiatus, the series returned with a thriller that saw the No. 99 AO Racing ORECA LMP2 07 claim its first win of the season. Dane Cameron faced intense pressure from the No. 04 CrowdStrike Racing ORECA driven by Alex Quinn, but held firm until the yellow flag ended the fight on the penultimate lap. It was a long-awaited breakthrough for Cameron and his co-drivers PJ Hyett and Jonny Edgar.
