Corvette locks out the front row in Detroit

It is a beautiful statement of intent from Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports. In a stunning display of home-turf dominance on the Detroit Street Circuit, Alexander Sims secured the Motul Pole Award with a 1 minute, 9.354 second lap. His teammate Nicky Catsburg followed just 0.043 seconds behind, cementing a 1-2 qualifying lockout for the team.

Sims, who shares the No. 3 machine with Antonio Garcia, found his rhythm late in the 15-minute session by swapping onto fresh Michelin tires. The performance follows a strong showing in practice for both Corvettes, setting the stage for what Sims describes as a special moment for the team given its proximity to GM’s headquarters.

Behind the yellow duo, the competition remains fierce. Ben Barnicoat qualified third in the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Racing Lexus RC F GT3, while the pair of Ford Racing Mustang GT3s sit fourth and fifth. Neil Verhagen rounds out the top six in the No. 1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO after a heroic rebuild effort by the Paul Miller Racing crew following a practice incident.
