But qualifying brought a harsh reality check, dropping him down the order and forcing him to start seventh in his heat race.
He didn't waste those track opportunities, though. Chapur fought through to take third in the heat, which set him up to start the main final from ninth on the grid at the Autódromo Rosendo Hernández.
"Final trabajada," Chapur said after the race. "Habíamos hecho un P21 en clasificación y haber llegado sexto la final es muy bueno para el grupo, para el equipo, para el campeonato.
