Formula E unleashes a massive 21-race calendar for the GEN4 era
Hold onto your seats, because Formula E is going big. The FIA has just confirmed a monumental 21-race calendar for the 2026-27 season, and it is easily the most ambitious project the series has ever put together. We are talking about 13 global cities and the introduction of some properly legendary circuits, including The Circuit of The Americas, Zandvoort, and a new home for the London E-Prix at Brands Hatch.
This isn't just about adding dates; it is about the machine. The GEN4 era is coming, and it brings 600kW of power—that is over 815hp—and active all-wheel drive. To handle this beast, the calendar mixes those traditional city-centre streets we love with permanent tracks that can actually cope with the raw velocity of these new cars. It kicks off with a nighttime double-header in Jeddah on 18 and 19 December 2026 and wraps up with a high-stakes finale in Tokyo in July 2027.
There is also a fascinating shake-up to the format. For double-headers, we will now see a classic E-Prix paired with a shorter, punchy event called 'E-PrixUnleashed.' The idea is to let the GEN4 cars really stretch their legs. Plus, the grid gets a massive injection of history with Opel officially joining the fight alongside names like Jaguar, Nissan, Citroën, Lola Cars, Mahindra, and Porsche. As Alberto Longo put it, 'The tracks are faster, the competition is fiercer, and we cannot wait to get this historic season underway.'
