Iker Lecuona returns to the MotoGP paddock

Iker Lecuona is making a stunning return to the MotoGP paddock this weekend. He has been called up to fill the seat of the injured Alex Marquez at BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP, a move that brings him back to the premier class grid.

Lecuona is no stranger to the challenge of jumping into a MotoGP machine. Since his initial tenure in the premier class with Tech3 on a KTM, where he earned a best finish of sixth in 2021, he has spent time in the SBK paddock. After moving to Honda in 2022, he gained significant experience as an injury replacement for both the factory Honda team and the LCR squad throughout 2023.

Now racing for Aruba.it Racing – Ducati in WorldSBK, Lecuona arrives at Balaton Park in fine form. He currently sits second in the standings after a brilliant run at the Hungarian Round where he secured three second-place finishes. It is a rapid turnaround for the Spaniard, who heads back to the same venue to take on the MotoGP field.
