Jake Dennis takes Sanya pole position ahead of teammate Felipe Drugovich
Jake Dennis has claimed pole position for the Formula E race in Sanya, narrowly beating his Andretti teammate Felipe Drugovich. The qualifying session saw the Andretti squad achieve its first-ever front-row lockout, fending off strong challenges from championship leader Mitch Evans and Dan Ticktum.
Dennis set a fastest time of 1:05.502 in the final duel, a lap that proved too quick for Drugovich, who ran wide at Turn 4. Drugovich had advanced to the final by defeating Evans in the semi-finals, while Dennis secured his spot by overcoming Ticktum, who made a braking error at Turn 9.
Earlier in the knockout stages, Evans progressed past Taylor Barnard by a slim margin, and Drugovich showed strong pace to beat Nick Cassidy. Dan Ticktum also advanced, setting up a battle with Dennis, who despite a minor touch with the wall, posted a competitive time to reach the semi-finals against Pascal Wehrlein.
