That stunning outing in the FW47 makes her only the second woman to drive one of the team's cars, following F1 ACADEMY CEO Susie Wolff in 2015. It also places her alongside an exclusive list of women to have driven an F1 car, including Maria Theresa di Filippis and Lella Lombardi.
Getting to this point required a rigorous programme featuring gym work, simulator running, and a seat fitting. Once on track, Chadwick reeled off 32 laps of the circuit, gathering valuable data and feedback that helps the Grove-based outfit prepare for Portugal's return to the calendar in 2027.
This opportunity stems from her long-standing relationship with Williams, where she serves as Team Ambassador and F1 ACADEMY Adviser. "It was a phenomenal day and an incredible experience," Chadwick said, calling it the best day of her life so far.
Team Principal James Vowles praised the performance, noting that her feedback was impressive and that she gathered important data for the team as F1 prepares to return to Portimao next year. Vowles emphasized that the test clearly shows there is a path for women to compete at the top level.
