That said, what an absolute wildcard of a weekend in San Luis. Jeremías Scialchi carved his way through treacherous conditions to claim a brilliant seventh place, marking his second-best result of the year behind his sixth-place finish at Concepción. In a Turismo Carretera weekend featuring snow—a climate almost never seen in the category—the driver from San Antonio de Areco showed serious pace whether the skies were clear or dropping white stuff.
"Tuvimos un muy buen fin de semana dentro del TC siempre entre los 15, muy buen entrenamiento, aunque si bien fue corto por la bandera roja y demás, me sentí cómodo en la nieve, una condición de pista muy difícil," Scialchi said, reflecting on a practice session where he placed 12th despite interruptions.
Qualifying proved similarly chaotic with tricky tracks. A solid lap put him 15th initially, which translated to 13th once penalties were applied, leaving him 2.7 seconds shy of poleman Luis José Di Palma. That placed him on the fourth grid slot for the first heat race. The machine built by Moriatis Competición responded brilliantly. "En la serie el auto andaba y funcionaba muy bien. Todo el trabajo del Moriatis Competición se vio reflejado y avanzamos hasta el puesto 2 que nos permitió largar sexto de la final," he noted after charging up to second.
Lining up alongside Otto Fritzler for the main event, the young racer had his hands full. Starting sixth and ultimately crossing the line seventh, the beast developed a loose rear end that demanded every ounce of concentration. "Quizá ahí no quedó muy bien el auto, con una tendencia de cola que nos complicaba y nos limitaba mucho. Pudimos aguantar varias vueltas y me traigo un excelente resultado," Scialchi explained.
This haul of 32.5 points from San Luis—split into 4.5 from the heat and 28 from the final—marks his third top-ten appearance of the season, building nicely on a ninth-place run in Posadas. He now sits 27th in the championship standings with 159.5 points aboard his Ford Mustang run by Emanuel Moriatis' squad.
"Con muchas ganas de seguir para adelante con todo el equipo, restan cuatro fechas en circuitos muy lindos, que a mi me caen muy bien, así que vamos a poner todo para ver si podemos lograr el mejor resultado del año," Scialchi said, looking ahead with genuine enthusiasm as four rounds remain on the calendar.
