Kyffin Simpson achieves season-best result at Road America
Kyffin Simpson achieved his strongest NTT INDYCAR SERIES result of the year, finishing fourth at the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America. Driving the No. 8 Sunoco Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, Simpson advanced significantly from his 19th starting position.
This performance marks Simpson's fourth top-five finish of his career and adds to his tally of four top-10 finishes in ten races this season. Despite the positive result, Simpson expressed a slight disappointment that it wasn't a higher finishing position, highlighting the team's growing confidence and belief in their potential.
Simpson currently sits 16th in the championship standings, one position behind his previous standing after Will Power's strong run moved him up. However, the 21-year-old driver feels momentum is building, with nine top-10 finishes and four top-fives in his last 21 starts, a significant improvement from his early career results.
Looking ahead to the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, Simpson is optimistic about capitalizing on his strong second half of the season, a period where he saw notable improvement last year. He aims to leverage his comfort at upcoming tracks like Mid-Ohio and Nashville to achieve his season goals of a race win and a top-10 points finish.
