Marc Marquez cleared for FP1 at Mugello
It is absolutely stunning to see Marc Marquez back in the paddock at Mugello for the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider has cleared the first hurdle in his return from injury, with officials giving him the green light to jump on his machine for FP1.
We must temper our excitement, however. While he is cleared for the first session, the seven-time MotoGP World Champion faces a final medical review on Friday morning to determine if he is truly fit to contest the entire weekend.
He has had a brutal run lately. After a crash in the Tissot Sprint at Le Mans left him with a small fracture in his foot, he took the moment to also address a shoulder injury sustained in Indonesia last year. The surgery was successful, but now we wait to see if the body can handle the beast that is a MotoGP weekend.
