Media day dispatch: transfer talk as MotoGP lands at MotorLand

Here we are, friends. The flyaways are looming with just three European Grands Prix left before we pack our bags, and the paddock has touched down at MotorLand Aragon. The form book? Forget it. Even if Aragon has seen a one-rider masterclass for the last two years, 2026 is tearing up history as momentum becomes everything.

Now, let's talk about the bad news first. Unfortunately, the #79 is out. The Japanese star will miss the Aragon GP for a second consecutive season following a training crash in Japan, which is a massive blow to his title hopes.

Thankfully, we have some returns to balance out the injury heartbreak. Three and a half months on from his Catalunya crash, Johann Zarco gets set to tackle MotorLand Aragon, climbing right back into the saddle.

And what about the reigning World Champion? He might be playing catch up after a struggle in Silverstone, but Aragon is #93 territory. Seven Aragon wins suggest he is the favourite.

Then the musical chairs of the rider market started spinning wildly on media day. Back from injury and straight into the spotlight, last year's Indonesian GP winner spoke about being back in the flow and being in the fluo from 2027 onwards, as the VR46 Racing Team welcome the #54.

More moves? You bet. Enea Bastianini has a new home next year, keen to finish this season on a high as 'The Beast' will be in Aprilia colours alongside Raul Fernandez in Justin Marks' team for 2027. Replacing Bastianini, an exciting challenge awaits Luca Marini as he is on the move to Guenther Steiner's Red Bull KTM Tech3 outfit from next season.

Finally, the grid fills out further as another Spaniard graduates. Moto2 title contender Izan Guevara will be on the MotoGP grid next season, as he bags a ride with the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP outfit in the place of Jack Miller. The seats are filling up fast, and not many remain.
