Mortara claims top spot in Shanghai practice

It was a wild start to the day in Shanghai. Due to the threat of bad weather, the organizers moved the start time for Free Practice 2 three hours earlier, forcing everyone into an early scramble. Even with the compressed schedule, Edoardo Mortara put in a beautiful lap to top the charts, setting a 1m09.21 that nobody else could touch.

That time stood firm as the fastest of the morning. Behind the Mahindra driver, Antonio Felix da Costa put his Jaguar TCS Racing machine in second, finishing just four hundredths back. Jake Dennis, Joel Eriksson, and Max Günther completed the top five as the field prepared for qualifying at the Shanghai International Circuit.
